Copper Ceiling Cladding

This ceiling cladding will be located in an upcoming restaurant located in La Jolla, San Diego. It will be the liminal space between the main restaurant and a private speakeasy at the back of the property. The cladding consists of walnut plywood with square copper panels that distort and elongate when viewed at the entrance of the hallway.

Prototyping

To ideate the visual effect of this cladding, a prototype was created. By using scrap walnut veneered plywood and copper sheets that were drop from another project, we were able to confirm the aesthetic was as expected. The project is currently in the installation phase.

CAD

The CAD model was helpful to coordinate the square pattern across an entire hallway with offshoot corridors. There were also emergency lights, speakers, and fire sprinklers that were arranged in the model to center all of the fixtures to align with the square pattern.
